Choosing the right style of wedding photography for your pending event is as important as choosing what dress to wear or where you will have your reception. If you have a budget to work with, you should try to get the most affordable one possible without cutting corners.

After all, we’re talking about a once in a lifetime event, and you won’t get a second chance to capture the images from your special day.

Engaged couples have more options now than ever before regarding styles of wedding photography. Photojournalistic wedding photography is a highly popular choice for today’s weddings, offering a much less stilted marriage album than the old formally posed shots. Black and white one is also very popular, adding an old-time romance to your marriage photos.

Contemporary wedding picture allows couples to customize their photographs freely to match the feel of the ceremony. The traditional posed wedding portrait is quite appropriate to the old-fashioned formal one.

However, this is only one of a myriad of wedding styles from which couples now may choose. From jumping out of an airplane or exchanging vows on a roller coaster to highly themed custom ceremonies, weddings in general are much less standardized. It is only fitting that marriage photography should also change with the times.

One of the primary concerns in planning any wedding is the cost. Affordable wedding photography is easier to find than you might think. Professionals that do them are aware of the budget constraints that today’s couples face, and they are willing to work with the couples to come up with a solution to fit that couple’s style and budget requirements.

One of the first decisions that couples must make regarding marriage photography is whether to go with traditional film one or the newer and increasingly popular digital marriage one.

Both styles have distinct pros and cons. If your marriage will be of a more traditional style, you may wish to follow tradition and select the film one. Film also provides a softer feel for certain styles of photography. The major disadvantage to film is the inability to preview the photographs immediately.

While any professional photographer will be able to take excellent photos without the immediate feedback, couples whose marriage picture includes difficult action shots may feel more secure knowing that the photographer is able to preview and re-shoot photos as necessary.

Digital photography is the wave of the future. More and more photographers are starting to turn to the digital one as their preferred medium. Digital imaging allows the photographer the freedom to experiment with tricky shots, as he or she will know immediately whether the shot was a success.

It also allows the photographer to snap virtually limitless numbers of photos rather than being tied to a certain number of rolls for budgetary purposes.

Wedding photography has come a long way over the years. Now that more couples are in charge of designing their weddings from beginning to end, the role of the professional photographer has changed from one of the expert who orchestrated all the shots to a team member who works with the couple to achieve the right style of photos.

There are many advantages of digital photography, they are as follows

Digital photography through digital cameras does not need film. It means no waiting and paying for film development. This can simply decrease the cost of photographs.

Digital photos will never worsen. Digital photos are kept as long sequence of numbers inside, and there are no light and dark spots on a negative. This is the reason that they do not wear out eventually.

People can make limitless, wonderful duplicate of digital photos. once more, as digital photos are kept inside as numbers and not like light and dark places on film, so one can make perfect copies of a digital photo.

Digital photography is easy give touch up. Photo galleries with suitable gear can also help to change digital photos in shop. One can print the customized versions later. Old photos generally have to be printed again and then cautiously scanned in digital form previous to they can be corrected, but digital photography are already in that form, so improving is a simple task.

Digital photography is environment. As there is no misuse of paper, noxious chemicals, or plastic so one can take as much pictures as required with not polluting environment.

Causes of advantages:

1. No processing costs of the film - At the time of wildlife safari, people should not have to be anxious the usage of film with digital photography.

2. More reasons to have a digital photography - Occasionally the subject in the forest will be lying there still, as lions in exacting are prone of such activity. The lure is to suppress, hoping for some action. But people may not often see lions so close sufficient to photograph, so digital photography can help to keep taking still photos.

3. No wastage with digital photography - With a digital photography, there is no chance of wastage that simply deletes what is not required and do not want to keep.

4. Making the Most of Your Digital Images - so people can take some grand wildlife pictures with digital camera and digital photography. They are in digital format already, one can resize for the purpose of emailing to spiteful friends

5. Easy - digital photography save best shots to CD and have real photographs printed at local photo lab. This way people are paying for the high-quality prints and not killing money on discard prints destined for the bin.

Photography has come a long way in the past 50 years. In fact, not just the past 50 years, the evolution of photography into the diverse field it is today is truly amazing. With time photography has evolved into diverse fields like travel photography, food photography, photojournalism and much more. In fact, today still life photography alone has many diverse fields like food photography, jewellery photography etc. A common misconception that people have when it comes to photography is that a single photographer can take care of all kinds of photographic requirements.

The most interesting aspect of photography is the shift from film based photography to digital storage based photography. Today even ‘old school’ photographers have started using digital SLR cameras to capture the most vivid and vibrant images possible. Compared to the every day use digital cameras available in the market, professional photographers use SLR (single-lens reflex) cameras. A SLR camera can costs anything between $1000 and $5,000. The SLR camera rarely utilizes digital enhancement of the images (for example, unlike regular digital cameras the zoom feature in a digital SLR camera is purely optical) and a digital SLR camera has far superior optics when compared to the digital cameras available for everyday use.

The reason why most photographers prefer digital storage over film is that digital images are easier to manage and can be easily distributed. For example, if a photograph has been clicked using a traditional SLR camera, the negative has to be developed, the photo scanned and then digitally ‘fixed’ before it is ready for electronic distribution. However, with digital storage, there are no such problems, and a camera can be connected to a digital printer and within seconds it is possible to produce hard copies of the digital images. In fact this is the reason why digital SLR cameras have become so popular, the storage mechanism is the same as digital cameras, but the quality of images is as good as traditional SLR cameras. The only advantage that traditional film based cameras have over digital SLR cameras is that the images can be over and underexposed as per the photographers convenience, also since the capture field of digital cameras is static, they are more prone to problems like dust.
Some of the popular forms of photography today are:

Commercial Photography

Commercial photography is a broad term that is used to describe photography that is purely commercial in nature. Commercial photography includes advertising photography, fashion and glamour photography, food photography, fine art photography, portrait photography and other similar forms of photography designed for commercial use. Recently, photojournalism too has also been classified as a form of commercial photography, as the eventual purpose of photojournalism is to sell photographs to newspapers and news agencies. By and large, commercial photography is for professional photographers that can utilize their expertise to make money.

Author: Marvin Africa

The word aperture means small hole or gap. In terms of photography the aperture is an adjustable opening used to control how much light gets in to the camera. Light enters the camera through the lens which uses a calibrated scale to determine the maximum and minimum aperture. This scale is written in f/numbers which are sometimes called stops. Sometimes beginners struggle to understand aperture fully. This is because a small aperture is denoted by a big number (such as f32) and a large aperture is denoted by a small number (such as f1.4).

Aperture is very important in macro photography as it is used to control the depth of field. The depth of field is the area in the picture that is in sharp focus. There is always going to be a small depth of field in macro photography due to the high magnification involved and the short working distance between the camera and the subject. Using a large aperture makes the depth of field smaller but will allow a faster shutter speed to be used. This reduces the chance of the picture being ruined by camera shake. Using a small aperture means using a slower shutter speed and increases the risk of camera shake. A sturdy tripod and a remote switch make it easier to get consistently sharp shots. Outdoor macro photography is even more of a challenge as you have the weather to contend with as well.

The main problem to overcome with macro photography is lighting. At high magnification and short working distance not much light is available. TTL flash is the only reasonable work-around. In-built camera flash is not very helpful in macro photography because it is set too far away from the subject. Special flash systems can be acquired which attach to the end of the camera lens. The most popular ones are called ring flash and usually contain one or two controllable fluorescent tubes. There are many other flash systems that you can use for macro photography. Twin flash is another popular system that contains two small flash units that attach to the camera lens. Some photographers attach a standard flash unit to an adjustable bracket or arm. This directs light directly above the subject. Flash allows the photographer to work with faster shutter speeds and smaller apertures and reduces the risks of camera shake. At high magnification the slightest movement of camera or subject will blur the image and ruin the shot. Flash photography can have its own problems, often making the images look unnatural. Sometimes too much light will reflect from the subject causing over exposure. To overcome this flash units have to be adjusted to provide the correct amount of light. This can be achieved by adding a special cover called a diffuser which lowers the power of the flash making it less harsh. There are several disadvantages of adding a flash unit. The added weight can make the camera more cumbersome and more difficult to hold. More time is required to set up the flash for each shot. If you are serious about macro photography a flash unit and a tripod are required to get consistently sharp images with good exposure. A remote switch is a small device that operates the camera from distance. Most macro photographers use a remote a switch to reduce camera shake. Remote switches are either remote controlled or have a short cable to the camera.

I hope this has been a useful introductory tutorial about the use of aperture in macro photography. Most of all put your camera into aperture priority mode and have some fun with macro. In aperture priority mode the camera will select the best shutter speed to match the aperture you have entered manually. This gives the photographer control over the depth of field and therefore control over the resulting image. Confident and credible images are the outcome of knowing how to adjust the aperture. Once established you will soon be taking great macro shots like a professional photographer. Good luck and happy shooting.

Author: Trevor Stonham

Using a digital photography green screen is easy. The screens are used in both still photography and videos although it’s more common in video photography.

First off, you need an actual green screen. Despite the name, this can be either green or blue in color. The choice of color will largely be dictated by what you are photographing as you want to make it easy for your software to isolate the intended image with you.

Purpose made green screens are readily available from around $20. You can look for them in places like eBay, Amazon or your local photo store. Alternatively, you can make your own from fabric or even by painting a roll of paper. So long as the color is consistent, you’ll be fine.

Next up you need to make sure that you have good lighting for your digital photo. This is especially useful when you come to edit your pictures as extra shadows can confuse any automatic software options that you choose.

Although you can buy expensive lights, you’ll probably find that you can get very good results with just a couple of fluorescent tubes. Place them both upright, in front of your subject and to either side. This way any shadows should be canceled out.

Then take your photographs.

Once you’re happy with these, the time has come to edit them and put in a new background. So your “talking head” shot now shows you in a news studio, in front of a street scene, or just about anywhere else you choose.

Much will now depend on your photo editing software.

At its most basic, you will need to trace round the outline of your chosen image. Programs like Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop have tools that will help you to do this. But it may still take a while to tweak the places where the automatic software recognition program isn’t as accurate as you may like. This is where the contrast between the green screen and your subject matter comes in handy as it gives your chosen software a much better chance of doing a good job with as little of your help as possible.

Once you’ve got your image selected, you then need to use another option to digitally “lift” the image and then drop it onto your chosen background. Again, this will vary with your software package but providing you can get the software to just copy the selected area, you’ll be fine.

It may pay you to practice doing this with a simple shape such as a rectangle or a circle so that you don’t waste lots of time tracing round a complicated image only to find you press the wrong key at the wrong time. It’s at times like these when you’re grateful for Edit Undo options but personally I wouldn’t rely on them one hundred percent.

It’s then a relatively easy matter of dropping your carefully cut out selection on to the new picture. So you can then pretend to be talking to people from in front of the pyramids of Egypt or anywhere else you prefer.

Author: Andrew Goodall

Rainforest photography, like all good nature photography, is more about your sensitivity to nature than about expensive equipment. Of course you need a decent camera, and you must know how to use it. But the quality of your photos does not depend on the price tag on your camera. As long as you have a tripod, and a camera that allows you to adjust the aperture and shutter speed, you are set to go.

I make my living from nature photography, including a lot of rainforest photos, and I have never relied on the latest equipment for my work. Great rainforest photography is simply about finding an eye-catching subject, in good light, and having a creative eye for composition.

Note: The following tips are for photos of rainforest scenes, not for close-up photos of leaves, fungus etc.

Rainforest Photography Tip #1: Choose a subject. As they say in the classics, “It’s a jungle out there.” In the rainforest, you are confronted with foliage, branches, roots, rocks, vines…in your face and all around you. A really good rainforest photo requires structure, to make some visual sense of all that clutter. Look for something that is immediately eye-catching - a big tree that dominates the trees around it; a root system that leads the eye; a waterfall or stream; in short, something that you can build a composition around.

Rainforest Photography Tip #2: Use the best natural light. The mistake almost everybody makes at first is to take their rainforest photos on a bright sunny day when they are in the mood for a walk. Wrong! In full sunlight, the rainforest becomes a patchwork of light and shade that is impossible to expose properly. What you need is a cloudy day, when the light is much more even. Misty weather adds even more atmosphere to the rainforest, and can add a mysterious character to your rainforest photo.

Do not use a flash. The flash illuminates the scene with flat, white light, eliminating the gentle play of natural light and shade that gives the rainforest its character. Always use the natural light.

Rainforest Photography Tip #3: Carry a tripod. Taking your rainforest photo under a heavy tree canopy, on a cloudy day (see rainforest photography tip #2), means the level of light will be very low. You may be shooting at shutter speeds as slow as one or two seconds. You will always need your tripod, and it is best to avoid windy days so that the scene is as still as possible.

Rainforest Photography Tip #4: Use a wide-angle lens (or a zoom lens, zoomed back to its widest angle). The wide angle lens has several advantages for rainforest photography. Firstly, it exaggerates the sense of perspective in a photo, creating a sense of three dimensional depth. Viewers of your photo will feel like they are looking not just at a rainforest, but into it. Secondly, the wide-angle lens has a naturally wide depth of field. With so much detail all around you, it is important that you can keep both the foreground and the background in focus.

Rainforest Photography Tip #5: Stay on the path. There are some practical reasons for staying on the path when bushwalking. You minimize the possibility of getting lost, injured, or fined by some over-officious park ranger. The people who run the national parks are not stupid. They know what you want to see, and design their trails accordingly. Sticking to the path will not rob you of any great photo opportunities.

In terms of rainforest photography, you are able to create some distance between you and the foliage around you. It is much easier to photograph a tree when you don’t have the branch of another tree in your face. By staying on the path, you can get a clear view of your subject, without interference. You can even use the path as part of the composition in your rainforest photo. It is an excellent way of inviting the viewer to join you on your walk in the rainforest.

So there you have my five rainforest photography tips. Notice they concentrate on light and creativity, not on fancy techniques or equipment. You can make great improvements in all your nature photography this way, regardless of what type of camera you have.
